Lydia Steier stages "Le Marzze di Figaro" at the Hannover State Opera

Lydia Steier returns to the Hanover State Opera for a production of Mozart's opera "The Marriage of Figaro." Costume designer Alfred Mayerhofer and set designer Momme Hinrichs have also been engaged for the production.

Her career as a director began in 2009 with Busoni's Turandot in conjunction with Leoncavallo's Pagliacci at the German National Theatre Weimar. Important works from recent seasons include the double bill Oedipus Rex – Iolanta at the Oper Frankfurt , The Rake's Progress at Theater Basel, Lohengrin at Los Angeles Opera, The Magic Flute at the Salzburg Festival, La Fanciulla del West at the BERLIN STATE OPERA and Carmen at the Oper Köln In February 2019, she directed the highly acclaimed world premiere of Michael Wertmüller's Diodati.unendlich in Basel. Lydia Steier has been nominated twice for the German Theatre Prize DER FAUST, and her production of Karlheinz Stockhausen's Donnerstag aus 'Licht' at the Theater Basel was voted [top of critics' poll] in the magazine [magazine name].
