Sebastian Weigle conducts “Wozzeck” in Tokyo, Allison Oakes sings Marie and Falk Struckmann sings Doctor
SEBASTIAN WEIGLE conducts the concert performances of “Wozzeck” in Tokyo with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, with ALLISON OAKES singing Marie and FALK STRUCKMANN the Doctor.

Sebastian Weigle has been Chief Conductor of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo since the 2019 season. In the 2024/25 season, he will conduct, among other things, the concert version of "Wozzeck" and lead a European tour with works by Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven Further concerts will take him to the Copenhagen Philharmonic, the Staatskapelle Weimar and the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra. In the Opernwelt He returns to the Bavarian State Opera, where he conducts a new production of Strauss's "Die Liebe der Danae" as well as revivals of "Pique Dame" and "Lohengrin".
In the 2024/25 season, the British soprano will make her role debut as Elektra at the Cologne Opera, directed by Roland Schwab. Following her success as Chyrsothemis (Elektra) with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, she has been invited to return as Marie for concert performances of Wozzeck under Sebastian Weigle. The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino presents the artist in the title role in Strauss's Salome under the baton of Alexander Soddy.
Falk Struckmann, one of the world's leading bass-baritones of our time, has also devoted himself to the bass repertoire and has already achieved international success, most recently with his role debut as the Doctor in Wozzeck at the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse. He sang this role with comparable success at the Opéra de Paris, where he also distinguished himself as Klingsor in Parsifal. His performances as Pizarro in concert performances of Fidelio at the Gstaad Festival and the Grafenegg Festival under the direction of Jaap van Zweden were a personal triumph. Roles such as Pizarro, Klingsor, Alberich, Hagen, Hunding, and Fafner will continue to be the focus of his future singing career.
