Thomas Guggeis named “Conductor of the Year” by the Opernwelt chosen

Thomas Guggeis has been voted "Conductor of the Year" in the annual critics' poll of the magazine Opernwelt . The award recognizes his work as General Music Director of the Oper Frankfurt – whose orchestra was also named “Orchestra of the Year” .

This weekend, Guggeis begins a series of performances at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino The festival opens on September 26 with Mahler's Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection". From September 27, he will then conduct Berg's Wozzeck in Deborah Warner's production. ARSIS artist Wolfgang Koch will sing the title role, and Anja Kampe will sing Marie.
