Olesya Golovneva makes her role debut as Cio-Cio-San in Puccini's Madama Butterfly at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. In Joan Anton Rechi's production, the soprano is under the musical direction of Katharina Müllner and Antonino Fogliani, who share the conducting duties.

The soprano opens the new season after a successful year in which she received great acclaim for her role debuts as Tatiana in Eugene Onegin at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet and as Els in Schreker's Der Schatzgräber at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. She also sang the title role in Turandot at the Cologne Opera. Oper Frankfurt , to be seen at the Operafest Lisboa as well as at her house debut at the Teatro di San Carlo.
