Five ARSIS artists will come together on July 11 for a performance of Wagner's Tristan und Isolde at the Festival Radio France Occitanie Montpellier . Jaap van Zweden will conduct the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France in one of the highlights of this year's festival. Joining him are Anja Kampe as Isolde , Kwangchul Youn as King Marke , Iain Paterson as Kurwenal , and Tanja Ariane Baumgartner as Brangäne .

The performance unites four outstanding Wagnerian interpreters with one of the leading conductors of our time . Jaap van Zweden's interpretations of Wagner's operas have been hailed as "electrifying"; critics have also highlighted his "masterful command of Wagner's monumental architecture." In the role of Isolde, Anja Kampe has been praised for her "warm, sweet tone" and her "detailed portrayal" of Wagner's heroines, in whom "musical and dramatic demands" are ideally combined. Opposite her is Kwangchul Youn with his widely acclaimed interpretation of King Marke . Critics have admired his "beautiful bass, encompassing a thousand nuances of pain and anger," and described his performance as both "noble and dignified."

Iain Paterson's Kurwenal was praised for his "stamina, physical presence, and vocal focus"; critics also noted that the role suited him "like a glove." The ARSIS ensemble is completed by Tanja Ariane Baumgartner as Brangäne . Widely acclaimed for the richness and expressive depth of her Wagner interpretations, her performances have been celebrated for her "great range of vocal colors" and her richly timbred mezzo-soprano.
