The Bayreuth Festival , founded by Richard Wagner in 1876, is still considered the world's most important festival for the performance of his works. This summer, two internationally acclaimed Wagnerian interpreters , Elza van den Heever and Jennifer Holloway, will also be performing on the Green Hill.

Elza van den Heever opens her Bayreuth Festival season on July 25 as soprano soloist in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony , before taking on the role of Sieglinde in Die Walküre for the first time in Bayreuth from July 28 – a role she has performed in recent years at houses such as La Scala in Milan, the Opéra national de Paris and celebrated great successes at the Salzburg Easter Festival. The Financial Times described her Sieglinde as " rapturous and devastatingly sorrowful ," while Bachtrack highlighted her " perfectly projected, velvety soprano " and the " powerful and assured high notes."

Jennifer Holloway expands her Wagner repertoire at the Bayreuth Festival with her role debut as Adriano in the new production of Rienzi . She had already established herself as a Wagner interpreter in Bayreuth with her impressive Kundry. BR-KLASSIK wrote of her current Sieglinde that it felt " as if the Festspielhaus had been built for her voice ," and also highlighted her exceptional diction.
