JOANA MALLWITZ becomes Chief Conductor at the Konzerthaus Berlin
Starting in the 2023/24 season, Joana Mallwitz will be the new Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin for the following five seasons.
Last season, Joana Mallwitz and the Konzerthausorchester already developed two concert projects that were broadcast very successfully in collaboration with ARTE and rbb.
"I am very honored to be joining the Konzerthaus as Chief Conductor and am incredibly excited about working with the Konzerthaus Orchestra, whose musicians I have had the pleasure of getting to know as modern-thinking, music-loving, adventurous, and extremely approachable individuals through two wonderful projects. Coupled with the exciting and inspiring history of the venue, the orchestra's beautiful sound, and the wonderful team led by Artistic Director Sebastian Nordmann, these are the perfect conditions for a conductor," says Joana Mallwitz , describing her motivation for moving to the Konzerthaus Berlin.
"Joana Mallwitz's conducting exudes incredible power and dynamism. Even during concentrated rehearsals, she captivates you. Our conversations with her about the future of classical music, her great dedication, and her enthusiasm for music education quickly made her our preferred candidate. I am very happy that she is coming to Berlin," said Artistic Director Sebastian Nordmann.
