KIRILL PETRENKO on tour with the Berlin Philharmonic

Festival tour 2021: Salzburg, Lucerne, Paris
The events will continue in 2021 as well. Berliner Philharmoniker And chief conductor Kirill Petrenko will embark on a festival tour immediately after the season opening in Berlin: This traditional tour includes the Salzburg Festival and the Lucerne Festival. The tour concludes with a guest performance at the Philharmonie de Paris. The two programs subtly juxtapose Romantic and Modern music. The first program features Carl Maria von Weber's Oberon Overture and Paul Hindemith's Symphonic Metamorphoses; it also includes Franz Schubert's "Great" Symphony in C major, considered the epitome of a Romantic symphony. The second program showcases the music of Slavic composers, with Peter Tchaikovsky's Fantasy Overture Romeo and Juliet, Sergei Prokofiev's First Piano Concerto, and Josef Suk's tone poem Pohádka létav (A Summer's Tale). The soloist for the piano concerto is Anna Vinnitskaya, who... Berliner Philharmoniker accompanied on a tour for the first time.
