Alexander Soddy: Concerts from Rome to Chicago

ALEXANDER SODDY

ORCHESTRA DELL'ACCADEMIA NAZIONALE DI SANTA CECILIA

ORCHESTRA NATIONAL DU CAPITOLE DE TOULOUSE

LYRIC OPERA OF CHICAGO

Alexander Soddy begins November in Rome, continuing his collaboration with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. The program includes Dukas's *The Sorcerer's Apprentice*, Poulenc's *Gloria* with soprano Elsa Benoit, and Prokofiev's Symphony No. 5. This return follows his Fauré and Ravel program in February, which L'Ape musicale hailed as one of the "best concerts of the season so far." He then conducts the Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse in Weber's *Der Freischütz* Overture, Strauss's Horn Concerto No. 2 with Stefan Dohr, and Schubert's Symphony No. 5, before crossing the Atlantic to present *Wagner: Myth & Music* with the Lyric Opera of Chicago—a gala featuring excerpts from *Tristan und Isolde*, *Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg*, *Parsifal*, and *Götterdämmerung*.
