Kwangchul Youn brings his signature Sarastro to Los Angeles
30 MAY – 21 JUNE, LOS ANGELES OPERA More
Kwangchul Youn sings Sarastro in The Magic Flute at Los Angeles Opera, premiering on May 30. It is a role he has performed at many of the world's leading opera houses, and his interpretations of the "stoic Sarastro," with a "true voice" ideally suited to the part, have been praised. The production also marks the brilliant conclusion of James Conlon's tenure as Music Director of the house; performances run until June 21.
Later this summer, Youn will join fellow ARSIS artists Jaap van Zweden, Iain Paterson, and Anja Kampe for a concert performance of Wagner's Tristan und Isolde with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. He will sing the role of the King at the Radio France Occitanie Montpellier Festival on July 11. Marke sing.
