MAY 5 – MAY 19, LA MONNAIE
“Perhaps you will realize who she really is.” With this invitation, director and librettist Lydia Steier addresses the audience of the world premiere of Medusa on May 5 – a new opera with music by Iain Bell, commissioned by La Monnaie.

The production offers a fresh and surprising take on the well-known figure from Greek mythology: Claudia Boyle takes on the title role, Medusa is directed by Lydia Steier, and the musical direction is by Michiel Delanghe. Further performances are scheduled until May 19th.

Steier is internationally renowned for her visually striking, imaginative productions, in which the grotesque and the refined are uniquely combined. This creates powerful, vibrant stage moments that are above all else: captivating musical theatre.
