The production will premiere on April 17th at the Dutch National Opera under the musical direction of Adam Hickox.

Already in 2024, they sang Schukoff the role at the Teatro Real, with critics particularly praising his "perfect balance between acting and singing" and his compelling portrayal of the morally ambivalent West German diplomat.

In Amsterdam, he returns to this role in Tobias Kratzer's new production, which takes place aboard a cruise ship; the set design is by Rainer Sellmaier. Further performances are scheduled for April 20, 23, 26, and 29, as well as May 2.

Schukoff's upcoming engagements include his return to the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse: there he will portray Herod in a new production of Salome, which also marks the directorial debut of Matthias Goerne.
