THOMAS GUGGEIS will become General Music Director of the Oper Frankfurt

Thomas Guggeis will be the new General Music Director of the Oper Frankfurt The 28-year-old signed a five-year contract on Tuesday. Guggeis succeeds Sebastian Weigle, who has held the position since 2008.

"Despite his young age, Thomas Guggeis is no longer a talent, but rather has made astonishing progress in all that a conductor in such an important position has to achieve," said Artistic Director Bernd Loebe. He is optimistic about the "breath of fresh air" that will inspire both the staff and himself. "And the handover from Sebastian Weigle is taking place in the most harmonious way," Loebe emphasized.
