CONCERT on January 29, 2025

"Thomas Guggeis already thrilled audiences at the 2023 Mozart Week, when he took over from Daniel Barenboim. Together with the celebrated Bulgarian soprano Sonya Yoncheva, the young conductor returns to the podium of the Vienna Philharmonic as General Music Director of the Frankfurt Opera, performing Bach, Handel, and Mozart." CONCERTS on 7/8/9 February

At the beginning of February, Guggeis will make his debut with the Cleveland Orchestra, conducting works by R. Strauss, Dutilleux and Ravel.

"With its unmistakable opening made world-famous by 2001: A Space Odyssey, Richard Strauss's Also Sprach Zarathustra sounds like the dawn of a new world—a paradigm shift of cosmic proportions. In Thomas Guggeis's debut with the Cleveland Orchestra, the conductor explores further worlds in Henri Dutilleux's Tout un monde lointain…—featuring soloist Mark Kosower, the orchestra's principal cellist, and Ravel's deliciously decadent La valse."
