Parsifal at the San Francisco Opera

The San Francisco Opera is currently presenting Richard Wagner's Parsifal in a stunning new production by Matthew Ozawa , conducted by Eun Sun Kim . The production will run from October 25 to November 13, 2025, at the War Memorial Opera House .

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Eun Sun Kim conducts the orchestra with a rare balance of sensitivity and power:

“The orchestra under Eun Sun Kim combined delicacy and Wagnerian power in a way that was both intimate and monumental.” ( San Francisco Chronicle )

Seen and Heard International also praised the musical unity and artistic intensity:

“Conductor Eun Sun Kim and a committed cast make Parsifal soar at San Francisco Opera – something close to perfection.” ( Seen and Heard International )

The cast includes Tanja Ariane Baumgartner as Kundry with dramatic expressiveness and Kwangchul Youn as Gurnemanz with his warm, dignified authority.

Ozawa's production combines Western and Eastern elements into a visually poetic interpretation of compassion, renewal and human connection – a musically and scenically impressive chapter in Eun Sun Kim's artistic work at the San Francisco Opera.
