A ruler tormented by guilt, power-hungry schemers, a downtrodden people, and a monk who, quite literally, "writes history": After the assassination of the legitimate heir to the throne, Dmitry, Boris Godunov ascends to the Tsardom. In his chronicle of Russian history, the monk Pimen names the ruler as Dmitry's murderer. The ambitious Polish voivode's daughter, Marina Mnišek, supports him in this endeavor. While Boris grapples with the shadows of his past, the boyars deliberate on measures against the new usurper—until finally, the "false Dmitry" is crowned Tsar.

Further performances will take place on November 6, 8, 14, 21, 23 and 26, 2025 .
