From Carnegie Hall to the Teatro Colón: Kirill Petrenko and the Berliner Philharmoniker on tour through America
TOUR THROUGH NEW YORK & SOUTH AMERICA
Kirill Petrenko conducts the Berliner Philharmoniker In October, the orchestra will embark on a three-week tour of the Americas. They will open Carnegie Hall's 2026/27 season and then return to South America for the first time since 2000. The tour kicks off on October 8 with Carnegie Hall's Opening Night Gala: Jonas Kaufmann will sing popular arias from Italian operas, while the orchestra performs Respighi's Fontane di Roma and Pini di Roma . Three more concerts at Carnegie Hall will follow.
The orchestra then travels further south. It will make its debut performance in Colombia at the Teatro Mayor in Bogotá and return to the Sala São Paulo and the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. Two programs are on the schedule for the tour. The first combines Elgar's Enigma Variations with Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4. The second juxtaposes Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 1 with Strauss's Also sprach Zarathustra . The two soloists for the tour are Víkingur Ólafsson and Daniil Trifonov.
