OFFENBACH: ORPHEUS IN THE UNDERWORLD
EURYDIKE
ARSIS Artist Management is delighted to welcome soprano Juliana Zara to its roster. Zara will open the 2026/27 season as Eurydice in Barrie Kosky's production of Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld at the Komische Oper Berlin. Last spring, she returned to the Staatstheater Nürnberg in the title role of Berg's Lulu – a role for which she had already been nominated for the German Theatre Prize DER FAUST. Bachtrack called her "magnificent both scenically and musically." Opernwelt She praised her "very energetic, never forced singing." In October, she also returned to Unsuk Chin's Puzzles and Games, the work of her Carnegie Hall debut, at the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon. She also performed as the Cheshire Cat in Chin's Alice in Wonderland at the Theater an der Wien as well as celebrated at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam: She “glides through the soundscape with a silvery tone and a carefree smile”.
Later in the season, she sings the title role in a new production of Evers's *Die Schneekönigin* at the Philharmonie Luxembourg and Vaughan Williams's *Dona Nobis Pacem* with the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera. At the Bern Theatres, she participates in the world premiere of Nemtsov's *Ophelias Flügel* before singing Orff's *Carmina Burana* with the Bern Symphony Orchestra. This range befits a "magnificent soprano" whose voice the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung described as "crystal clear, high, pure, and yet completely effortless."
