Thomas Guggeis
Berliner Philharmoniker - Strauss / Dutilleux
Silence amidst enchanting sound: Thomas Guggeis makes a brilliant debut with the Berlin Philharmonic. … From chamber music-like delicacy, he very gently allows the full orchestra to blossom into a golden, blissful string sound. The brass section responds wonderfully softly, the pulse rises and falls, the tension is maintained, even during the long pianissimo passage for the cellos and double basses.

Guggeis, whose Wagnerian credentials are impeccable, was an urgent presence – his eloquent body language and balletic arms conveyed every musical wish.
