Biography

Tara Erraught is one of the leading international singers, whose diverse repertoire ranges from Baroque and Mozart to Belcanto, Romantic, and contemporary music.

In the 2026/27 season, Tara Erraught will sing the role of Donna Elvira in Mozart's Don Giovanni at La Scala in Milan under the direction of Thomas Guggeis, as well as at the Opéra national de Paris. Concert engagements will take the artist to the National Symphony Orchestra Dublin with Mahler's Second Symphony, and to the Orchestre National de France with Mendelssohn's Lobgesang under Eun Sun Kim, as well as to the Irish Chamber Orchestra for the concert programme Passion and Song.

Highlights of recent seasons include her debut at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival and the Salzburg Festival as Madame Cortese in Rossini's Il viaggio a Reims . Other significant engagements included her role debut in the title role of Iphigénie en Tauride, as well as her role debuts as Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), and Alice Ford (Falstaff) at the Hamburg State Opera. She also appeared as Blanche de la Force (Dialogues des Carmélites) at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe and at the Semperoper Dresden to be experienced. In addition, she sang Cendrillon and Donna Elvira at the Opéra de Paris, made her role debut as Maria Stuarda at the Irish National Opera, and appeared as Donna Elvira during the Vienna State Opera's guest performance in Monte-Carlo. She also performed this role as a guest artist at the Vienna State Opera and the Semperoper Dresden ; as Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia) she returned to the Berlin State Opera back.
Concert engagements took her to the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, to the Dresden Philharmonic with songs by Alma Mahler under Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, and to the BBC National Orchestra of Wales with Ralph Vaughan Williams' Songs of Travel.
Tara Erraught was a member of the Bavarian State Opera's Opera Studio and ensemble and a regular guest performer in Munich, most recently receiving acclaim for her roles as Rosina and Adalgisa ( Norma ). Other roles in Munich included Susanna, Despina, Hänsel, Orlofsky, Sesto, Angelina ( La Cenerentola ), Roméo, and Kathleen Scott in the successful world premiere of Srnka's opera South Pole. At the Metropolitan Opera in New York, she was celebrated for her performances as Nicklausse ( The Tales of Hoffmann ) and Hänsel. Tara Erraught has also appeared at the Vienna State Opera as Donna Elvira, the Composer, and Rosina. Her portrayal of Angelina in the new production of La Cenerentola was hailed by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung as the "New Queen of Bel Canto." She made her Salzburg Festival debut in 2016 as Siebel in Gounod's Faust. At the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden she sang Annio (La clemenza di Tito) under Yannick Nézet-Séguin. In Hamburg, she debuted as Fiordiligi ( Così fan tutte), Alice (Falstaff), and Vitellia.
In addition, Tara Erraught gave recitals at Wigmore Hall in London, at the Schubertiade, in Munich, Barcelona, Oxford, and Eppan. A particular honor was her invitation to the anniversary recital celebrating the 100th birthday of Victoria de los Angeles in Barcelona, which she also presented at Wigmore Hall in London. Concert engagements took her to the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under Herbert Blomstedt, the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra under Simone Young, and, for a Mozart gala, to the Munich Radio Orchestra under Alexander Soddy. She enjoys an extensive and regular collaboration with the National Symphony Orchestra in Dublin. Her international concert activities have also taken her to Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver, Savannah, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Dublin, Lyon, and Tokyo. With the Philadelphia Orchestra, she sang Mozart's Requiem under Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
Born in Dundalk, Ireland, Tara Erraught graduated from the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin. She works regularly with Brigitte Fassbaender.
