Biography
The American soprano Jennifer Holloway has established herself in recent years as one of the leading sopranos in the jugendlich-dramatisch repertoire and firmly consolidated this position with her Bayreuth debut as Sieglinde (Die Walküre).

She begins the 2025/26 season with one of her most successful roles to date, Salome, in concert performances of the opera with the WDR Symphony Orchestra in Cologne and Bucharest. She then appears as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, before taking on Elsa in a new production of Lohengrin (Michieletto/Martiotti) at the Rome Opera. With her role debut as Vanessa in Barber’s opera, she makes her first appearance with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in concert performances of the work. She will be heard at the Vienna State Opera as Kundry (Parsifal) and at the Hamburg State Opera as Chrysothemis (Elektra). In 2026, the Bayreuth Festival has engaged the soprano as Adriano in the first-ever production of Rienzi in the festival’s history.
Highlights of recent seasons include her role debut as Kundry at Oper Frankfurt, her house debut at Oper Zürich as Beethoven’s Leonore (Fidelio), Salome at the Vienna State Opera, the Berlin State Opera and the Deutsche Oper Berlin; Chrysothemis, Tannhäuser’s Elisabeth, and her role debuts as Sieglinde (Die Walküre), Senta (Der fliegende Holländer), Leonore (Fidelio) and Ellen Orford (Peter Grimes) at the Hamburg State Opera. Further engagements included Senta at the Semperoper Dresden, Cassandre (Les Troyens) and Senta at the Bavarian State Opera, Sieglinde in concert with the Orchestre de Paris under Jaap van Zweden and at the Vienna Konzerthaus under Joana Mallwitz, the title role in César Franck’s Hulda in Paris, Nunciata in Saint-Saëns’ L’Ancêtre in Monte Carlo, Grete in a new production of Schreker’s Der ferne Klang at Oper Frankfurt, her role debut as Elsa (Lohengrin) at Oper Leipzig, the Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos) at Teatro Colón Buenos Aires, as well as Cassandre (Les Troyens) and Salome at the Semperoper Dresden.
Jennifer Holloway began her career as a mezzo-soprano, performing major Mozart and Handel roles such as Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Idamante (Idomeneo), and Irene (Tamerlano) at venues including Teatro Real Madrid and Los Angeles Opera.
On the concert stage, she has appeared in Zemlinsky’s Lyric Symphony with the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, in Mozart’s Mass in C minor under Bertrand de Billy in Dresden, and several times with Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder.
