Biography
Magnus Dietrich has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting tenors. His repertoire ranges from Mozart's Tamino and Belmonte to Wagner's Steersman (The Flying Dutchman) and Walther von der Vogelweide (Tannhäuser) to Strauss' Leukippos, with whom he attracted considerable attention in the new production of Daphne (Guggeis/Castellucci) at the Berlin State Opera and in Frankfurt, and with his successful debut as Jacquino in Beethoven's Fidelio at the Metropolitan Opera New York, he was also able to establish himself internationally.

In der Spielzeit 2025/26 wird Magnus Dietrich als festes Ensemblemitglied der Oper Frankfurt sein Rollendebüt als Ferrando in der Neuproduktion Cosi fan tutte geben und dort am Haus auch in den Neuproduktionen Turandot und dem Doppelabend Der Zar lässt sich fotografieren/Die Kluge auftreten. Rolando Villazon hat den jungen Tenor als Tamino in der Neuproduktion der Zauberflöte für die Mozartwoche Salzburg engagiert. Konzertverpflichungen führen Magnus Dietrich mit Mozarts Requiem zu den Münchner Symphonikern und mit Haydns Jahreszeiten unter Thomas Guggeis zu den Frankfurter Museumskonzerten.
Highlights of recent years include his debut at the Metropolitan Opera New York, his Tamino at the Berlin State Opera and the Semperoper Dresden and Alfred ( Die Fledermaus ) under Mark Minkowski at the Bremen Music Festival, in Festspielhaus Baden-Baden and in Valencia as well as Schubert's Winterreise in the version of the song cycle choreographed by Christian Spuck. His concert performances include the St. John Passion with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, St. Matthew Passion and Mozart's Requiem with the Munich Bach Choir and Orchestra, and Mendelssohn's Lobgesang Symphony under the direction of Thomas Guggeis in Frankfurt. He sang Elijah under Kirill Petrenko with the Berlin Philharmonic, Schumann's Das Paradies und die Peri with the Staatskapelle Berlin under Marc Minkowski in Berlin and the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie. Magnus Dietrich is also active as a lieder singer, most recently with Wolf's Italian Songbook at the Oper Frankfurt .
Magnus Dietrich has been a member of the ensemble of the Oper Frankfurt , where he has so far appeared as Count Hohenzollern in the new production of Henze's The Prince of Homburg , in Handel's Partenope as Emilio, as Leander in Nielsen's Maskerade and in Rosenkavalier .
Magnus Dietrich is a guest at renowned festivals such as the International Hugo Wolf Academy, the Leipzig Bach Festival, the Kissinger Sommer, the Festival de Santes and the Bach Academy France. In addition, concert tours have taken him to France, Belgium and the Netherlands together with the solo ensemble Vox Luminis. He enjoys a lively collaboration with the conductor Johanna Soller, including as a member of the “capella sollertia” in the „Cantate um 1715“ concert series.
The Munich Tenor He studied singing with Prof. Andreas Schmidt at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts and privately with Hartmut Elbert. He was a member of the opera studio of the Berlin State Opera. Masterclasses with Piotr Beczala, Andrew Watts, Neil Shicoff, Bo Skovhus, and Hedwig Fassbender complemented his education. Magnus Dietrich is a prizewinner of the German National Singing Competition and holds a scholarship from the Liz Mohn Cultural and Music Foundation. He also received the Brixen Classics Young Artists Award 2022.
A CD with Brahms duets together with the pianist Doriana Tchakarova as well as Felicitas and Judith Erb was released on the MDG label in May 2022.
