Magnus Dietrich

Worldwide representation

Magnus Dietrich has established himself in a short time as one of the most exciting young tenors. Already as a member of the opera studio of the Berlin State Opera he was able to attract attention as Tamino and Leukippos in the new production Daphne (Guggeis / Castellucci). From the 2023/24 season, he will join the ensemble of the Frankfurt Opera.

In Frankfurt, Magnus Dietrich's roles in the new season will include Tamino (Zauberflöte), Belmonte (Entführung aus dem Serail), and in two productions under Thomas Guggeis: Walther von der Vogelweide (Tannhäuser) and Basilio / Don Curzio (Le Nozze di Figaro). He will also make guest appearances as Tamino at the Berlin State Opera and the Semperoper Dresden. With Mark Minkowski he will appear as Alfred (Fledermaus) in Madrid and Paris. In Berlin he will sing Rossini's Stabat Mater for the first time.

With his repertoire Magnus Dietrich covers all epochs from baroque to classical, romantic and modern. These include, respectively under the direction of Thomas Guggeis, Junker Spärlich in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor and Scaramuccio in Ariadne auf Naxos, Erste Parze in Hippolyte et Aricie under Simon Rattle, Ein Wirt in Der Rosenkavalier under Simone Young, and Peter Karpati in Christian Jost's Die Arabische Nacht, as well as Steuermann (Der fliegende Holländer), Lerma (Don Carlo) and 1. Jude (Salome).

In concert, Magnus Dietrich sang in Elias under Kirill Petrenko with the Berlin Philharmonic and the Mozart Requiem with the Dresden Kreuzchor. He sang Schumann's Das Paradies und die Peri with the Staatskapelle Berlin under Marc Minkowski and also made a guest appearance with this at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.

Magnus Dietrich is a guest of renowned festivals such as the International Hugo Wolf Academy, the Bachfest Leipzig, the Kissinger Sommer, the Festival de Santes or the Bach Academy France. Concert tours together with the soloist ensemble Vox Luminis have also taken him to France, Belgium and the Netherlands. He has a lively collaboration with the conductor Johanna Soller, among others as a member of the "capella sollertia" at the concert series "Cantate um 1715".

A CD with Brahms duets together with the pianist Doriana Tchakarova and Felicitas and Judith Erb was released on the MDG label in May 2022. Magnus Dietrich is the winner of the Brixen Classics Young Artists Award 2022.

The Munich tenor studied singing with KS Prof. Andreas Schmidt at the Munich University of Music and Drama and privately with Hartmut Elbert. Master classes with Piotr Beczala, Andrew Watts, Neil Shicoff, Bo Skovhus and Hedwig Fassbender completed his education. Magnus Dietrich was a scholarship holder of the Liz Mohn Culture and Music Foundation.
