Thomas Guggeis conducts “Parsifal” at the Oper Frankfurt with Jennifer Holloway as Kundry

THOMAS GUGGEIS conducts a new production of Wagner’s “Parsifal” at the Oper Frankfurt in May and June 2025, with JENNIFER HOLLOWAY making her role debut as Kundry.

This highly anticipated new production is directed by Brigitte Fassbaender and features an outstanding cast, including Nicholas Brownlee as Amfortas, Alfred Reiter as Titurel, Andreas Bauer Kanabas as Gurnemanz, Ian Koziara in the title role, and Iain MacNeil as Klingsor.

"The musical direction of this new production will be assumed by General Music Director Thomas Guggeis, whose Frankfurt work in the 2024/25 season also includes the revival of Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier. Brigitte Fassbaender has directed almost 100 productions since the end of her brilliant singing career. These include Oper Frankfurt She has performed successful productions such as Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos and Capriccio, as well as Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream and Paul Bunyan at the Bockenheimer Depot. There she was also responsible for the world premiere of Vito Žuraj's Blühen. The US-American will be performing the title role in Parsifal. Tenor Ian Koziara at the Oper Frankfurt , while his compatriot Jennifer Holloway (Kundry) also returns as a guest to the house on Willy-Brandt-Platz. Here both sang, among other things, Fritz and Grete in Schreker's Der ferne Klang (CD on OehmsClassics) in 2018/19 and were also cast again in the first revival of the production in 2022/23. Jennifer Holloway's current engagements include Salome at the Vienna State Opera and Sieglinde in Wagner's Die Walküre at the Bayreuth Festival, while Ian Koziara returns to the Oper Frankfurt returned, followed by Froh in Wagner's Das Rheingold at the Bavarian State Opera.
