Simone Young conducts the »Turangalîla Symphony« with the Berlin Philharmonic

“Olivier Messiaen's monumental Turangalîla Symphony is a hymn to joy and love in all their facets. Inspired by the Tristan myth, this is an opulent work full of sensuality, ecstasy, and spirituality. Messiaen creates his magical soundscapes with an extraordinary orchestra, including imposing percussion and electronic sounds, as well as a highly virtuosic piano part, which will be interpreted in this concert by Cédric Tiberghien. The Berliner Philharmoniker perform under the direction of Simone Young , Chief Conductor of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.” (Source: Berliner Philharmoniker )
