Pfitzner's Palestrina at the Vienna State Opera with Wolfgang Koch as Carlo Borromeo under the direction of Christian Thielemann

WOLFGANG KOCH returns to the Vienna State Opera in the role of Carlo Borromeo in Pfitzner’s rarely performed work “Palestrina,” conducted by Christian Thielemann.

Wolfgang Koch's repertoire includes the major baritone roles in German and Italian operas. He sang Wotan / Wanderer ( The Ring of the Nibelung ) at both the Bayreuth Festival and in Munich under Kirill Petrenko. He appeared as Hans Sachs ( The Mastersingers of Nuremberg ) at the Munich Opera Festival, also under Kirill Petrenko. He has sung Amfortas and Klingsor in Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, and at the Salzburg Easter Festival, among others. He made his MET debut in 2019 as Scarpia ( Tosca ). He has appeared as Falstaff at both the Bavarian and Vienna State Operas. Wolfgang Koch sang Dallapiccola's Il prigioniero under Kirill Petrenko with the Berlin Philharmonic.
