Bogdan Taloș' busy autumn culminates in Sarastro in Düsseldorf

DEUTSCHE OPER AM RHEIN
SARASTRO
THE MAGIC FLUTE

Bogdan Taloș returns this October to one of the defining roles of his repertoire, taking on the part of Sarastro in the revival Barrie Kosky and Suzanne Andrade's production of The Magic Flute at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. The staging premiered in 2012 at the Komische Oper Berlin, with animations by Paul Barritt from the theater collective 1927. It transforms Mozart's opera into a silent film fantasy and has become a cult classic with audiences worldwide.

Taloș is coming to Düsseldorf after completing three major concert projects in three different cities. On September 18, he performed Rossini's Petite messe solennelle at the Alexandra Palace Theatre in London with the Monteverdi Choir and the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique, conducted by Jakob Lehmann. The concert was billed as the first performance of the orchestral version on period instruments in modern times. In his four-star review, Bachtrack praised Taloș's "grave-like bass voice, which lent the work welcome gravitas."

On October 2nd, he sang Verdi's Messa da Requiem with the Staatskapelle Weimar under the direction of Marco Alibrando as part of the Equinox III – Living Community Festival of the German National Theatre. On October 9th, Beethoven's Ninth Symphony followed with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra at the Elbphilharmonie.
