Finnegan Downie Dear conducts Der Rosenkavalier at Garsington Opera
The premiere of Richard Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier marks one of the highlights of this year's festival season at Garsington Opera. Bruno Ravella's acclaimed production returns after its successful first run in 2021, bringing Strauss's elegant and moving comedy about love, time, and transience back to the stage.
Finnegan Downie Dear will be conducting, making his Garsington Opera debut with this production. Together with the Philharmonia Orchestra, he will perform one of the richest-sounding works in the operatic repertoire, whose opulent orchestral colors and unmistakable waltz-like bliss showcase Strauss at the height of his powers.
The performances will take place on May 28th and 30th, as well as on June 5th, 14th, 16th, 19th, 25th, 27th and 29th, 2026 at the Wormsley Opera Pavilion.
