On June 10th, the Dutch National Opera presents a major new production of “Boris Godunov”, directed by Kirill Serebrennikov – his latest collaboration with the house after his acclaimed debut with “Der Freischütz”.

Serebrennikov places Mussorgsky's monumental work in a sharply drawn, contemporary context, drawing frightening parallels between the political unrest in Tsarist Russia and today's mechanisms of authoritarian power. This new production promises to be as visually impressive as it is politically explosive.
