Alexander Soddy - New production of Verdi's Macbeth at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino

From Sunday, October 12, 2025, Giuseppe Verdi's Macbeth will be performed for the first time in the Sala Grande of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino The musical direction will be taken over by Alexander Soddy , who thus returns to the Maggio after his successful Florence debut with Strauss's Salome .

The new production is directed by Mario Martone , with sets by the artist Mimmo Paladino , who created a monumental set and a curtain painted on wood especially for this production, inspired by the fresco Il Trionfo della morte in Palermo.

The main roles are played by Luca Salsi as Macbeth, Vanessa Goikoetxea as Lady Macbeth, Antonio Di Matteo as Banco, and Antonio Poli as Macduff. The Maggio Chorus is conducted by Lorenzo Fratini .

Following its premiere on October 12, 2025, Macbeth will be performed in further performances on October 14, 17 (8 p.m. each) and 19 (3:30 p.m.) .
