Alexander Soddy - debut at the Musikverein and on tour with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra!
Last week, Alexander Soddy made a highly successful debut with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and Augustin Hadelich in the Great Hall of the Vienna Musikverein.
“The Vienna Symphony Orchestra was in luck with Elgar and an Oxford conductor. At the Vienna Musikverein, the four-time conductor Alexander Soddy not only brought the “Enigma Variations” to vibrant life. … “ Applause for Soddy and the fantastic Vienna Symphony Orchestra, ” wrote the Standard, describing his debut. “ The individual character pieces offer ample opportunity to step out from the ensemble and present oneself as a soloist. Every instrument knew how to seize its moment: viola, cello, clarinet, oboe, flute, bassoon, percussion. And in the powerful tutti passages, the orchestra's robust, radiant overall sound was pleasing. … It was remarkable how he managed to capture the collective attention in the Golden Hall and focus the audience's full attention on what was to come. That special silence even before the first note, highly concentrated and charged with all sorts of expectations,” added die Presse and the Kurier wrote: “ Their catchy hit ‘Nimrod’, which has been featured in numerous films, was particularly captivating with its magnificent beauty and lingered in the ear long afterward! Great, jubilant applause! ”
