Biography
The young Slovakian bass Peter Kellner has now performed at international venues such as the Vienna State Opera, the Semperoper Dresden , the MET New York, Covent Garden London and the San Francisco Opera.
In the 2025/26 season, Peter Kellner will open the Vienna State Opera season as Kezal in the new production of The Bartered Bride . The opera will also present him as Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte . Peter Kellner returns to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden as Re di Scozzia in Handel's Ariodante before making his role debut as Daland in The Flying Dutchman at the Rouen Opera. Semperoper Dresden has played the bass as Colline ( La Boheme ) and Frere Laurent ( Romeo et Juliette ) and at the Prague National Theatre he is again Vodnik in Rusalka . His performance at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival and the Salzburg Festival in Rossini's Il Viaggio a Reims is eagerly awaited.

Recent highlights have included Figaro at the Lyric Opera Chicago, his role debut as Raimondo ( Lucia di Lammermoor) at the Semperoper Dresden , Figaro, Leporello and Guglielmo in the da Ponte cycle at the Vienna State Opera, Colline and Papageno at London's Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Colline for his MET debut, Figaro and Masetto at the BERLIN STATE OPERA , his role debuts as Osmin ( The Abduction from the Seraglio ) in Hamburg and as Vodnik ( Rusalka ) at the National Theatre Prague, Basilio ( Il barbiere di Siviglia ), Theseus in Midsummer Night's Dream under the direction of Simone Young and Il re di Scozia in Ariodante at the Vienna State Opera. Peter Kellner is a regular guest at the Salzburg Festival, most recently as Brander in La Damnation de Faust , in Elektra and in a Mozart matinee. In the concert area, Peter Kellner sang in the 9th Symphony by Beethoven with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under Jaap van Zweden and in Mozart’s Requiem with the Prager.
Peter Kellner made his debut at the Vienna State Opera as Panthée in Berlioz's Les Troyens, debuted as Ratcliffe ( Billy Budd ) at Covent Garden London and as Figaro at the Volksoper Vienna and at the Glyndebourne Festival. His other repertoire includes roles such as the title role in Handel's Hercules , Colas ( Bastien and Bastienne ), Dulcamara ( Elisir d'amore ), and Lord Sidney (I l viaggio a Reims ). In 2013, he was engaged at the Salzburg Festival as Osmin in The Abduction from the Seraglio for children and in Don Carlo under the direction of Antonio Pappano.
In addition, Peter Kellner has given concerts in Seville, Prague, Basel, Krasnoyarsk and Mallorca, among other places.
Peter Kellner won the Independent Opera Fellowship of the Wigmore Hall Song Competition, the 2nd prize and audience prize of the International Mozart Competition Salzburg 2018 and the first prize of the International Ferruccio Tagliavini Competition in Deutschlandsberg. He has worked with conductors such as Sir Antonio Pappano, Vasily Petrenko, Adam Fischer, Bertrand de Billy, Marco Armiliato, Ivor Bolton, Friedrich Haider and orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, the Camerata Salzburg, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bamberg Symphony, the Staatsphilharmonie Košice and the Graz Philharmonic.
Peter Kellner comes from the Slovak Republic and studied at the Košice Conservatory with M. Adamenko, at the Mozarteum Salzburg with B. Bakow and completed his studies with a Bachelor's degree with A. Sol at the University of Arts Graz. From there he was engaged in Oldenburg and later in the ensemble of the Graz Opera.
